It’s a known fact that the lower the gauge, the thicker and stronger the material. Our 12-gauge framing, with a diameter of 2 ¼” x 2 ¼”, boasts of higher tensile strength, providing higher snow and wind load ratings. Therefore, we highly recommend the 12-gauge steel option for areas with heavy snow and high winds, as well as carports that are 10 feet or taller.

On the other hand, 14-gauge steel is the industry standard of frame thickness and the most widely accepted gauge for carports and metal structures. Both gauge options are structurally sound and will ensure the safe use of the metal structure. Although all our gauge options can be certified, we can only offer our extended warranty when you choose the 12-gauge steel option.
